For skiers in the northern US, many Michigan ski resorts were slow to open this past December. Despite many disagreeable weather conditions on the part of mother nature, three of northern Michigan’s largest ski areas are now open to the public, and are expected to bring in record numbers of visitors to area ski resorts this year.
In celebration of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, many northern ski resorts are offering a number of valuable promotional offers, which makes now the perfect time to pick up some of the hottest ski gear around and head to the slopes for some winter fun.
A lack of snow falls and warmer than usual temperatures early in the ski season kept many ski areas open only on a limited basis throughout the month of December. However, a cold front that swept across the nation in early January brought much new snowfall to a number of US ski resorts, encouraging ski enthusiasts to bring out their ski gear once again.
While the change in weather also brought new snow, it was accompanied by record levels of cold temperatures as well, making ownership of good quality ski gear vital. However, temperatures have now returned to close to normal for many of the northern regions, leaving behind some nice skiable terrains.
